Roadworks on the A34 in Stone that are required ahead of the building of the new Aldi supermarket start on Monday 1st November.

Motorists have been warned to expect delays at peak times between the Walton roundabout and the cemetery roundabout near Aston as a 40mph speed limit is introduced both ways. The works on Stafford Road are expected to take 26 weeks as road alterations and access arrangements to the Aldi site are created. More serious delays are expected further into the works programme.
One of the conditions of planning permission for the new supermarket – next to Walton Industrial Estate – was that road alterations and access arrangements had to be in place before building work can begin. Aldi’s regional managing director Dan Ronald said recently that the new store will be open in the spring of next year.
