ABB looking for engineering apprentices

ABB is looking for craft and technical apprentices to join its Stone-based Power Systems Division.

The firm says it is seeking talented young people, aged between 16 and 19, to help build Britain’s greener power networks and to support its ambitious growth plans.

An ABB spokesman said: “To become an ABB apprentice you’ll need a good set of GCSEs – including Maths – but we are more interested in your practical aptitude than academic qualifications.

“The ABB apprenticeship scheme is designed to offer the ideal combination of hands on real-world experience with rigorous tuition and guided study. It not only leads to a recognised qualification, but also a guaranteed job on successful completion – after three or four years. You’ll also receive a competitive wage.”

Applications for the apprentice intake for September 2011 are open now and will close on 15th May. Assessment centres will be held on 7th, 8th and 9th June and successful candidates will receive their offers in the week commencing 13th June.

To help young people, and their parents, learn more about the opportunities at ABB, two open days are being held at ABB’s Stone site between 2pm and 4pm on Wednesday 20th April and Wednesday 4th May.

Visit the ABB website to book a place on one of the open days and to apply for an apprenticeship online.
