Actor makes surprise visit to Stone

Pupils from the Pop School with actor Ian Kelsey

Actor and West End star Ian Kelsey paid a surprise visit to Stone on Saturday 30th October to see pupils at Stone’s Pop School and Stage Academy (PSSA).

Ian, who played Dave Glover in Emmerdale, is a regular fixture in TV dramas with recent roles in Blue Murder with Caroline Quentin, Casualty, Where The Heart Is, Down To Earth and The Bill. He played Danny in the touring musical production of Grease and Billy Flynn in Chicago. As a long-standing patron of the London-based PSSA, he’s a regular visitor to the Staffordshire branch.

In addition to watching the youngsters train, Ian had the chance to watch performances of some of the acts that will be included in the school’s forthcoming Variety Performance, before chatting to them about their hopes and ambitions.

He said: “It was great to visit during a normal Saturday session to see the kids in action. They looked like they were all having great fun while learning performance skills and building their confidence, which is what PSSA is all about.”

Stone residents will have the opportunity to watch PSSA pupils in action on Thursday 18th November when they take to the stage to help celebrate the town’s Christmas lights switch-on.
