Staffordshire County Council has issued an important update for commuters travelling between Stone and Stafford. As part of the ongoing road improvement scheme north of Stafford, a series of overnight closures on the A34 are scheduled for this week.

Closures at a Glance

The road will be closed overnight in both directions between the A51 Aston roundabout and the A513 Redhill roundabout. These closures are planned for Thursday, January 25th, Friday, January 26th, and Saturday, January 27th, each from 8 pm to 6 am.

Why the Closures?

These closures are necessary to allow for safe and efficient road surfacing as part of the larger project, including constructing a new roundabout junction near the Pets at Home development. T

Diversion and Access

A diversion route will be in place via A5013, A519, and A51 to facilitate travel during these times. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly to accommodate the slight detour. The council has confirmed that access to homes and businesses will be maintained throughout the period of the closures.

Benefits of the Project

Upon completion, the project promises smoother traffic, improved cycling and pedestrian facilities, new bus stops, and enhanced street lighting. This development is a part of the council’s commitment to improving local infrastructure, with the added benefit of supporting over 750 jobs through the Pets at Home development.

Looking Ahead

Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for highways and transport, David Williams, commented on the necessity of the closures, stating,

“While road surfacing takes place, we will unfortunately need to put the overnight closures in place, helping us to do the work as quickly as possible.” He thanked the public for their understanding and highlighted the scheme’s completion date in March.

Now my knickers are truly soiled! This is a blooming joke! I can’t get my happy meal and fruit bag if they keep closing the road. My nipples are right hard with the anger.
