Advent tribute to Christmas truce

The amazing display at Home & Colour by students from Alleynes High School

An Advent Window that pays tribute to the Christmas truce, when German and British troops sang carols and played football together during the First World War, was unveiled in the High Street on Tuesday 19th December.

Students from Alleynes High School produced the amazing window for Home & Colour – and it’s well worth a look when you’re on the High Street. Stoke-on-Trent sculptor Andrew Edwards opened the window, with the Christmas truce story told by Emma Sanders.

Windows in the town centre will continue to be opened until Saturday, when there’s a Christmas carol and story walk up the High Street, starting at 9.30am at Baileys DIY and ending at Christ Church at 11am, when the final window will be opened by the Bishop of Stafford. Tea, coffee, soup and other refreshments will be available, as well as quiet space for prayer and reflection.
