The organisers of last year’s brilliant Advent Window project in the town have already started work on this year’s festive event.
After the success of the first giant advent calendar about carols last year, businesses in the town will be repeating the project, but this time with a new theme of Christmas stories from around the world.
In the build-up to Christmas, 24 shops, businesses and organisations will each decorate their window on the theme of a story and open it on a different day in December. We’re in the middle of summer (apparently) but all of the slots have already been filled.
The scheme was the idea of Stone residents Pam and David Pott who were inspired by similar projects in Welwyn Garden City and London.
Pam said: “We’re delighted with the response and how quickly everyone has booked up for the advent calendar this year. We want it to be even better this year. We are also hoping that the shops and businesses will arrange a time to tell their story from around the world.”
Children from local schools will help some of the shops decorate their windows. People interested in helping with the project should call 01785 286474 or 07932 790525.
