Fancy raising some money for Stone First Responders by tackling one of the toughest obstacle courses in the country?
The Wild Thing adventure race on Sunday 8th September at Wild Park in Brailsford on the outskirts of the Peak District National Park includes the Swamp of Doom, water slides, tightropes, tunnels, giant walls, cargo nets, mud, water and a killer assault course.
Organiser Rachel Pine from 3B Barbers in Lichfield Street has urged businesses and individuals in Stone to sign up for the challenge. A 3B Barbers team and one from The Bike Shack in Radford Street have already signed up.
Rachel said: “This all about getting the Stone community together, having a great muddy day out and raising money for Stone Community First Responders. If you live or work in around the Stone area, why not enter with friends or colleagues and raise some money for this important cause. You never know when you may need Stone 1st Responders.”
You can find out lots more at the Stone 1st Responders X Runner Facebook page HERE.

You can register to take part by clicking HERE. Up until 31st March it costs £40 to enter the Wild Thing adventure race. If you want to take part and raise money for the First Responders, it’s really important (REALLY important) that you enter the team name as Stone 1st Responders.
Ten per cent of the entry fee will go to the Responders and everyone from Stone will then be grouped to tackle the course together. Everyone who signs up is also urged to raise sponsorship money ahead of the big day.
Stone’s community first responders – who are all volunteers – really do play a hugely important role in the town. They are all trained to respond to emergency calls and to provide immediate care to patients before the arrival of an ambulance. By providing vital life-saving first aid before the ambulance arrives, they really can be the difference between life and death.
Stone Community First Responders cover an area within a 5km radius of Stone town centre. Like all responder groups across the country, they are not funded and all time is given voluntarily. The money that is needed to purchase equipment, uniforms and a vehicle has to be raised through fundraising events or public or private donations.
