Stone landlords can find out about the latest developments in the private rented sector at a special forum on Wednesday 9th February.
Top of the agenda are forthcoming changes to housing benefit. New rules come in to force in April which will affect around 10% of people claiming housing benefit from local authorities. The changes include the government setting lower rent payments for privately rented homes and withdrawing ‘top-up’ payments.
Now landlords across the area are invited to the forum, organised by Stafford Borough Council, where they can find out what the changes will mean for themselves and their tenants. A benefits expert from the council will be on hand to answer any questions.
The ‘forum’ agenda will include how the council and landlords can work together in helping people find accommodation in the private rented sector. It also gives landlords the chance to understand the role the local authority plays in the private rented sector.
The forum will take place at Oddfellows Hall, Greengate Street, Stafford, on Wednesday 9th February at 5 pm and anyone interested in attending should call the council’s environmental health team on 01785 619000 or email ehadmin@staffordbc.gov.uk
