Age Concern Stone seeks new volunteers to support local older residents

Age Concern Stone and District is on the lookout for friendly and capable volunteers to help support older members of the community.

The charity, based close to the town centre, is looking to fill the gap left by a much-loved team member who has recently stepped down. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys meeting people and wants to make a positive difference in Stone.

PLEASE NOTE: This is the charitable organisation based out of the council building on Station Road – NOT a charity shop!

What they’re looking for

Volunteers should be:

  • Approachable and non-judgemental
  • Comfortable speaking with the public
  • Able to bring warmth and a good sense of humour to the role
  • Confident using a computer

This is a front-facing role, so professionalism, empathy and a friendly manner are important.

  • Lisa Briggs, I’m afraid you’ve got completely the wrong end of the stick. Age Concern are looking for office volunteers, they don’t provide home visits or offer services such as shopping etc. I think you are thinking of Age UK, a separate organisation.

Hopefully they won’t charge you £30 an hour for cleaning, shopping and welfare checks and leave you living in squalor, on the wrong medication, barely able to eat or walk (for various medical reason easily resolved if they had been at all “concerned”. But maybe that was just my new neighbour… still upset 2 years later made a promise to myself I would never “mind my own business” when it came to senior people that live next door again!
