Our primary aim has always been to keep our local community well-informed, and this new initiative on WhatsApp will allow us to do just that without any algorithmic interference.

Initial Piloting and Positive Feedback
Before rolling out this service to everyone, we initiated a pilot with our paid Facebook subscribers and the wonderful supporters from Buy Me a Coffee.

- You’re in Control: If you’re not benefitting from being in the group, then you can simply leave the community. It’s there so you can jump back in again at any time.

We also send out a weekly newsletter every Saturday morning at 8 am, encapsulating all the stories posted on our website in the past week. No, we won’t be abondoning our social media, we will continue to publish stories and information via them as we always have, however, WhatsApp will be the first place we push things to.
Social media platforms have dictated the frequency of our posts, and reward regularly timed posts – that’s not always how news works!
Our social media posts are typically sent at 2 hour intervals to try and create a regular pattern, this means that key information may not be received in a timely fashion.
