In October Sharon Turner and Jack Taylor held a fundraising day at Stone Cricket Club to raise money for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice and Chernobyl Children’s Project.
The day attracted over 450 people over the course of five to six hours hours. With a lot of calculations and sums they have both been able to come to a final total raised – an astonishing £9,412.03.
This is more than double the previous year’s event, with over 15 stalls, The Neurons playing live, Stone Scout & Guide Band and a huge auction and raffle. Plus a sponsored chest wax and Jack Taylor’s mammoth (he looked like one!) head shave and over 20 other sponsored events.
Sharon said: “The amount we’ve raised is absolutely marvellous and a great big massive thank you to everyone for putting up with me and helping to raise this amazing amount. We have managed to raise a staggering £5156.95 for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice and £4255.08 for the Chernobyl Project. Thanks to everyone once again.”
Jack said: “The day was a huge success and the amount raised is just incredible. However, without the huge commitment from Sharon to the two charities and the day, none of this would of been feasible. Sharon’s work is huge and she has been entered into next years Pride Of Britain Awards for Charity Fundraiser. She deserves so much for the work she has done. Well done Sharon!”
