The Ancient High House in Stafford is hosting a “Food Through the Ages” event, to learn about food and dining in the Tudor, Stuart, Georgian and Victorian periods.
On Saturday 24th June from 10am to 4pm, the costumed characters will introduce visitors to tastes of foods from times gone by from, along with children’s workshops, table displays, demonstrations, and a ‘horrible food’ history section.
This unique event draws on historical sources to show visitors what graced the dining tables of rich and poor throughout the last 500 years. Not only can you see some of the period food – but you get to taste some of it too. Stafford Borough Council has teamed up with Sugnall Walled Gardens’ kitchen to produce a range of food items taken from period recipes. Admission to both museum and event is free. Period taster foods from 50p; Workshops £2.
