The Signpost Centre in Stone says demand for its food bank has increased, and it is asking people in the town to donate items.
The centre teamed up with Morrisons earlier this month to collect items for their food bank, and a donation box will be in the store’s entrance area for the next few weeks. Please donate some items if you can.
Staff at the Signpost Centre, which is based in the Frank Jordan Centre in Lichfield Street, say there has seen a marked increase in demand for the food bank over the last few months. They have received regular donations over recent weeks from the congregation of St Dominic’s Church but were hoping to increase their supplies with the help of the wider community of Stone by teaming up with Morrisons. They were also hoping to increase the awareness of the food bank in Stone.
Jo Yendole from the Stone Signpost Centre said: “The food bank is accessible to everyone and no referral is needed. It exists to help people who are struggling financially and can no longer afford to buy enough food to feed themselves or their family. The box will remain in Morrisons over the coming weeks and further donations will be greatly received. Thanks to all who donated food on Saturday and to Morrisons for their support.”
The Signposts staff and volunteers handed out leaflets to shoppers on the morning of Saturday 14th June with a list of suggested items. A box has been left in the store for people to place their donations.

I work for the House of Bread in Stafford. I was talking to a Lady
From Stone recently about the work we do and that we give around
a 100 food bags out each week . The Lady and her church friend felt
There was no Food bank needed in Stone as no one was homeless
Or really poor. There church has stopped collecting the food so much
Because of this misapprehension . I doubt that in this day that there is
no one to need help. And seeing your request for food proves the fact.
If you do get stuck for food please contact is here at the House of Bread
and I am sure we could help maybe.
We have the same mission in live to feed the hungry.
