Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 22-year-old man was pulled from a taxi and had his jaw broken in an attack near the town centre.
The incident happened in the Abbey Street area in the early hours of Sunday 12th September. A 22-year-old man left the Crown and Anchor pub with a group of friends and headed down the High Street towards Lichfield Street to get some takeaway food. It is thought that some members of the group had a disagreement with other people in the High Street.
After the group bought some food, they got into a taxi. It is believed the 22-year-old was pulled from the taxi and attacked in Abbey Street, suffering a broken jaw and requiring hospital treatment.
Detectives have carried out inquiries in the area and are studying CCTV footage. Officers are keen to speak to anyone who was in the town centre, particularly the High Street and Lichfield Street, between 1.30am and 2am on Sunday morning. They are particularly keen to speak to a woman seen in the area at the time. She is described as white, 5ft 6ins tall of a slim build and with long, straight black hair. She is thought to be between 18 and 22.
