Appeal over dog killing chickens

Police in Stone have appealed for help to trace the owner of a dog that may have killed chickens at a property in the town on three separate occasions recently.

The dog – which is described as black, about the size of a Labrador and with a distinctive blue collar – is thought to have killed chickens and ducks at the address in Longton Road, near the junction with Nicholls Lane, three times since Boxing Day.

All incidents have happened between 8.45am and 9am.

Stone PCSO Jenny Ludlow-Smith said: “The three incidents took place on Boxing Day, New Year’s Day and then most recently on Saturday 19th January. On each occasion a dog was seen leaving the area. We think that, given the similar times for the incidents, the dog could have been taken for its morning walk and may be responsible. Could I urge anyone who thinks they know of this dog and its owner to contact the neighbourhood team on 07929 610424.”
