Organisations from across Staffordshire are being invited to apply for funding to help support their local Armed Forces Communities.
Open until 2 December 2019, the Armed Forces Covenant Local Grants programme is now open for local projects that help bring together Armed Forces and civilian communities or deliver local services to the Armed Forces Community, and is making Grants of up to £20,000 available.
Under this scheme, grants of up to £30,000 are on offer with a small number of grants of up to £150,000 for more complex projects. Applicants must be Armed Forces charities with an existing building that requires refurbishment. An additional £3M programme to fund renovations and improvements to veterans’ community centres is also open.
Melloney Poole, Chief Executive of the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust said: “We know that there are many well used community centres that offer a good space for veterans, but some of these centres could benefit from repair works such as improved heating or electrical wiring to make these valuable spaces better.
“We can also fund works that will make centres more accessible for older veterans or veterans with disabilities.”
Staffordshire County Council is now supporting groups with their applications.
Alan White, Deputy Leader at the authority said: “Staffordshire has a long and proud military heritage, which continues to this day with the Defence Medical Services in Lichfield and the Royal Signals in Stafford, as well as a large number of Reserve units and Cadets.
“This fund helps support our local armed forces, those serving, veterans, cadets and their families to be more involved in local community’s activities. Lots of different services and projects are being considered for funding, so I would encourage organisations to make an application.”
