Artist shows how it’s done at Radford Gallery

Philip Hardaker at work at The Radford Gallery

Staffordshire ceramic artist Philip Hardaker was at The Radford Gallery last weekend to demonstrate how he creates his amazing mosaic artworks.

An exhibition of his work – titled ‘Intent And Irony – The Art Of Philip Hardaker’ – is on show at the gallery in Radford Street until 24th October.

Philip – a graduate of the Royal College of Art – has been digging up ceramic shards from in and around Stoke-on-Trent to use in his art for the last 30 years.

The sculptor, ceramicist and mosaic artist uses these finds, as well as his own beautifully modelled images, as the basis for each unique piece.

He has worked with numerous schools and community groups to create special pieces, including the beautiful mosaic bench that you may have seen in Westbridge Park near the canal.
