Aston Marina charity Bake Off winners announced

some-of-the-entriesWith the 2016 Great British Bake Off champion having recently been crowned, Stone’s very own star bakers have been recognised following a similarly styled charity event organised by Aston Marina.

The event raised over £50 for local children’s hospice charity the Donna Louise Trust, with all proceeds from entries going direct to the cause.

The competition was split into two sections – a flavoured savoury loaf and a sponge cake of your choice, both of which were hotly contested, as Marina director Helen Webb explains:

The bake off event has been great fun – we were really impressed with the standard of entries across the board and, as foodies, the chance to sample so many great bakes was a real pleasure. The Donna Louise Trust does amazing work, and it’s a charity we are proud to support – watch this space for news of future fundraising initiatives and events.”

Entries were judged by members of the Marina’s kitchen and deli team, who had a tough challenge picking a winner due to the overall quality of the cakes and breads submitted. However, following much deliberation, they selected a winner in each category to receive a food hamper worth £50 packed with goodies from the Marina’s award-winning farm shop.
