Barney’s ready for his 5k!

Six-year-old Oulton First School pupil Barney Stannard is running the Trentham 5k on Sunday 10th May to help raise money for a new library at his school.

The PTA at the school – led by secretary (and Barney’s proud mum) Rebecca Stannard, chair Angela Arnold and treasurer Emma Clifford – has been raising money since last September to deliver a modern library for pupils. The school needs to convert a room, install an interactive whiteboard, purchase modern reading support software and new books. This comes to over £4,000 to keep up with the current curriculum and modern learning standards.

Rebecca said: “Barney had already decided to do the race with his dad but he asked me if he could raise money for the library to help the PTA. I’m so proud of him.”
