Nature lovers can get up close and learn more about bats on a free night-time walk in Stone.
The walk, which Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is holding in partnership with Staffordshire Bat Group, takes place on the Aston to Burston Trail in Stone on Saturday 6th June between 9pm and 10.30pm. Experts expect to be able to see or hear species such as the pipistrelle, noctule and daubenton on the trail. Bat detectors, which allow humans to hear the ultrasonic sounds that bats emit as they fly and hunt, will be available for walkers to use.
Shaun Rimmer, of Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, said: “Bats really are fascinating creatures. This walk will allow people to learn more about them, and there is another benefit too, as walking also helps people to get fit.”
The walk is free to attend, and those interested in booking a place can do so by visiting www.staffs-wildlife.org.uk/whats-on or calling 01889 88100. For more information, email Shaun – s.rimmer@staffs-wildlife.org.uk
