In line with the Government’s roadmap, The Great British Drive-In is pulling up once again at Sandon Hall from the 14th of April.
The Great British Drive-In launched July 3rd 2020 with an initial event program for 10 weeks through the summer. It ended some 5 months later on December 26th.
During that time over 70,000 visitors watched over 400 films, all whilst served by a variety of street food traders from Digbeth Dining Club. When looking for reasons to be cheerful the Great British Drive In certainly stood out in 2020 as a safe and exciting event for everyone in the beautiful surroundings of Staffordshire’s Sandon Hall.
The film program returns for 2021 with some favourites such as The Greatest Showman, Pulp Fiction, Dirty Dancing and plenty of titles not previously screened. You’ll find the likes of the Harry Potter series along with some not seen before on the big screen 2020 titles such as The Witches, Storm Boy, Missbehaviour, Wonder Woman 1984, The Host and Sputnik.
With a 100 square metre LED Screen ensuring a world-class production in the beautiful setting of the grounds of Sandon Hall Stone residents will once again have the fantastic opportunity to watch some of their favourite films on the big screen.
Regarding covid regulations the team said:
“Social Distancing measures have once again been carefully considered and implemented to ensure this is a safe experience for all. In 2020 the venue reported zero cases of covid through their unique code for track and trace and are keen to continue with this exemplary safety record.”
The team behind The Great British Drive In launched the event after finding all of their event work cancelled through 2020 from the Tutankhamun Exhibition in London to NFL London Games to the award-winning ‘Best Experience in London 2018’ Immersive dining experience, The Murder Express (planned to reopen May 20th!).
Sandon Hall had also seen postponements in their summer event calendar, which has been devastating for many of the brides & grooms planning their weddings at the venue but the team are hoping that they can continue this year at some point and get back on track.
The fantastic team at Digbeth Dining Club are also back bringing a delicious selection of the finest street food traders so you can get your hands on great tasting food before the film, making The Great British Drive In an epic day or night out.
Doors Open 1hr – 1.5hrs (film dependent) before the film’s starts so there is plenty of time to park and enjoy your food which can be ordered online or at the venue. Then sit back, relax and enjoy the film. The Audio plays through an FM transmitter so will play through the car radio or any portable radio. All Events are ticketed which can be booked on the website – www.TheGBDriveIn.com
The organisers will also be using their new online temporary staffing app they have been working on during lockdown to staff the event www.izero.work if people are interested in working at the event please email info@TheGbDriveIn.com for more details.
“During the Covid Pandemic, we have seen loss, despair, frustration and we have lost but we have also seen resoluteness, strength, determination and courage with bravery, great acts of kindness and people coming together from all walks of life during the global pandemic.
The Great British Drive In will celebrate those wonderful positive British values of helping thy neighbour, standing tall and keeping calm amidst the chaos. We also celebrate the rich diversity that being British means in 2021 and what we believe makes Britain Great in 2021 with a diverse program of film, entertainment and street food. The aim is to be united as we move forward in an ever-evolving world so we have created a varied entertainment program that we hope positively engages everyone within our society and embraces everyone by welcoming one and all with open arms at The Great British Drive In.”
The event will run until June 6th 2021.
