Beth Lauren Cakes in Stone are launching their take on a great British institution – the afternoon tea!
After opening the doors to her cake parlour in Radford Street in January, owner Beth Tomasik has been cooking up a storm with her delicious layer cakes, cupcakes, scones and more – all freshly produced in the kitchen next door
Now trained pastry chef Beth – who runs BLC with mum Julie Simms and sister Hannah Shingler– is launching Sunday afternoon teas at the cake parlour – starting on Mother’sDay on 11 March. Beth has a real passion for afternoon teas and will be delivering exquisite selections of cakes, scones, artisan sandwiches, patisserie treats, loose-leaf teas and Fairtrade coffees for those who like the finer things in life!
And like all her creations, Beth is passionate about using the best local, and seasonal produce she can get her hands on. Honey for her home-made honeycomb comes from just down the road in Aston; freshly-picked fruit from Staffordshire farms is used for her home-made jams, and the finest meats for her afternoon tea sandwiches will come from Griffins of Stone.

“Ever since we opened, customers have been asking when we’re going to start serving afternoon teas and it’s lovely to launch them on Mother’s Day – we’ve got lots of mums coming along to be spoilt rotten!After that, we’ve decided to devote Sundays for afternoon teas in the cake parlour.I can’t think of anything I’d rather do more on a lazy Sunday than relax with friends and family with the delights of an afternoon tea. There’s something so indulgent about it!”
