Stone’s Aston Marina has thrown out a challenge to sausage lovers in the town for British Sausage Week – come up with your own flavour of banger! The winner of the competition will see their sausage idea become a reality and sold during December in the deli.
As well as the competition for British Sausage Week (2nd to 8th November), there will be banger tastings and 10% off sausages purchased from their butchery throughout the week.
The Marina’s master butcher Colin Nicholls – a former winner of the Best Banger in Britain award for his signature pork, apple and cinammon sausage – is throwing down the gauntlet and inviting foodies to submit their ideas for their ultimate banger flavour for the chance to see their concept become reality.

[box type=”shadow” align=”aligncenter” ]Director Helen Webb said: “At the marina we’re passionate about the quality of the sausages we sell, and our in-house recipes are finely honed. However, we’re always keen to see great new varieties come on to the shelves, so this is a great opportunity for food lovers to get inventive and come up with a sausage style they’d love to see. The winner will be chosen purely on taste, so it’s not necessarily going to be the craziest combination that comes out on top.”[/box]
Sausage flavours can be submitted in person at the farm shop from 2nd to 8th November, or via the Marina’s Facebook page before Colin and head chef Tom Harrison shortlist the best of the entries. These will then be made up for tasting, with visitors able to sample the finalists over the weekend of 28th/29th November and vote for their favourite.
The creator of the most popular banger will then be invited to help Colin produce the first batch of their ‘own recipe’ sausage, which will be named after them and sold from the butcher’s counter throughout December – they’ll also get to take a pack home to enjoy themselves!
