The organiser of this year’s Advent Window project has invited everyone in the town to a Big Christmas Carol Walk on Christmas Eve.
The final window will be opened at Christ Church, in Christ Church Way, at 11am on Friday 24th December. Beforehand, people will be singing each shop’s Christmas song in a festive walk around the town.
Organiser Pam Pott said: “Before the opening, we will be assembling in Lichfield Street near the Traditional Flower Company for the Big Christmas Carol Walk through the town. You are warmly invited to come along at 9.30am, bringing your voices and instruments and Christmas good cheer.

“After singing our way through the town we will reach Christ Church where Big Issue seller Monica from Romania will open the last window, which will reveal a stunning life-size Nativity scene. There will be tea, coffee, biscuits and last-minute-shoppers’ free soup and a roll available.”
If the children are getting impatient waiting for Christmas, why not send them out to view all the windows around the town and get their Advent Window cards stamped? Cards are still available at the library and participating shops. Those who have got their stamps in place will receive a prize when the final window opens at Christ Church at 11am on Christmas Eve.
