Shires Veterinary Practice in Stone is having a major expansion and refurbishment of its popular Eccleshall Road surgery.
Work will start on phase one of the project – the extension to the rear and back of their current building – on 18th August and is expected to be completed next February. The extended surgery will also be refurbished and reconfigured.
The extension will deliver:
- Two extra consulting rooms with a dedicated nurses’ room for admissions and discharges
- An extra sterile theatre will double the number of sterile procedures that can be performed at any one time
- Expanded waiting room to allow segregation of dogs and cats
- Separate isolation facilities for dogs and cats, modern and clean wards for dogs, cats and exotic species
The practice will be open as usual throughout the works, and staff say they will try to keep any disruption to a minimum, although there will obviously be some noise and mess.
Congratulations to Shires Vets – it’s a really popular surgery and it’s great to see a local business expanding.

That is good news. But what about the doctors in Stone! With around 900 new houses to built in Stone, is there any news on their expansions?
