Bill Cash has held the Stone constituency for the Conservatives with an increased majority.
On a good night for the Tories nationally, where they’re expected to have a majority in the House of Commons, Bill Cash’s majority was 16,250 (in 2010 it was 13,292).
Andrew Illsley increased UKIP’s share of the vote by almost 11% but the party finished third behind Labour’s Sam Hale. The Lib Dems, mirroring their national performance, saw their support crumble in the Stone constituency by over 17%.
Turnout was 70.05%.
Counting for the borough and town council elections gets under way later today.
