Bin collection start times brought forward due to Extreme Heat

Bin CollectionDue to the Extreme Heat Warning in place for later this week, the council have advised that bin collection crews will be starting at 6am rather than 7am on Thursday and Friday (11-12 August 2022) to try and avoid working in the hottest part of the day.

The council have issued the following update:

“We are sure you appreciate the need to protect our bin collection staff as much as possible, as well as the earlier start time they are also being issued with extra water, hats and suncream and will be encouraged to take frequent breaks out of the sun where possible.

If Thursday or Friday is your normal collection day, please ensure that your bin is presented by 6am or ideally the night before. Once the extreme hot weather has passed the collections will return to normal. Check collection days here https://www.staffordbc.gov.uk/about-my-area

If your bin is not emptied on the scheduled collection day please leave it out for collection until it has been emptied.

We appreciate your understanding and assistance in this matter, we would also be grateful if you could let friends or family know who may not have access to email or social media.”
