Bird’s eye view of fireworks and beacon

These amazing photographs of Stone’s Diamond Jubilee fireworks display and beacon lighting were taken from the top of St Michael’s Church last night by Joshua Cope.

The beacon was lit by Rev Ian Cardinal just before 10pm and was visible around the town, especially from Crown Meadow, where over 1,000 people had gathered to watch the fireworks. Set to some stirring patriotic music, the fireworks display was spectacular, ending with explosions of red, blue and white to the national anthem. Well done to Stone Town Council for organising!

The pictures are amazing, although I had organised the fireworks I had to attend a family event up North, so I actually missed them, I got lots of messages about them from friends attending. A massive thanks to all involved with this weekend’s Jubilee Celebrations. Stone Town Council are so proud to have been part of the massive beacon lighting, one of over 4000 world wide. There’s no place like Stone. Cllr Charlie Hearing
