A brand new event is set to bring some Mediterranean flavour to Stone town centre during food festival week this year.

The ‘Tapas Trail’ is inspired by an event that takes place in Stafford Borough’s Spanish twin town, Tarragona, which local accountant Bob Knight of R. A. Knight & Co, has enjoyed numerous times. Believing the trail would be a great addition to the Stone Food & Drink Festival programme, he approached the board and has worked closely with them to bring the event to reality, kindly sponsoring it in its inaugural year.
The premise is simple – every evening from Monday 26th September – Sat 1st October, ten town centre restaurants will each offer its own tapas dish and accompanying drink for just £3.50 per person. Diners can pop in and enjoy a tapas dish at each venue any evening of the week – taking on the challenge of completing them all in one night, or enjoying spreading them over several evenings.

As an added bit of fun, you can pick up a card at any participating restaurant and judge each tapas dish you try for the chance to win a meal for two. Venues on the Tapas Trail include The Star Inn; The Crown of India; The Crown and Anchor; The Mill Restaurant; Aston Marina; Granvilles; Little Seeds; The Royal Exchange; Let’s See and Langtry’s.

Festival Chairman, Richard Stevens, says:
This is something that Bob first mentioned a few years ago and we’re delighted to bring his vision to reality for the first time in 2016. The response from local restaurants has been brilliant, as shown with our having ten venues on board for the first ever year. This should be a lot of fun and an event that we hope will become a festival week favourite for years to come.”
