A car was stolen from a driveway on Thomas Avenue in Stone after a burglar broke into the house and grabbed the keys.
The offender got into the house through “a small, insecure rear window,” police say, just after midnight in the early hours of Friday. The male was seen to pick up two more people from the street on the Saxifrage estate off Lichfield Road before driving away. The black Audi A4, S Line TDI was later found dumped in Liverpool.
The occupiers of the house were at home during the incident. Not sure at the moment if anything was taken from the house apart from the keys. Will update when I get more information.
Police have urged people to keep doors and windows secure and locked at all times and to keep keys and other small valuables out of sight and away from doors and windows.
Anyone with information should contact Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 4 of February 1. Alternatively, you can contact independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.

Would be nice to know some more info on this, was it local thieves we need to look out for? Or were they from Liverpool who just happened upon an insecure window in Stone? Seems strange to me either way.

What type of car was it? That might help people!
What is the police’s advice on what to do with your car keys?
I’ve seen people in the past say that they heard of someone being burgled and so they now take their keys to bed. I would rather someone found my car keys downstairs without coming upstairs and putting my family at risk!
I obviously don’t put them so they are visible but if you were in the house you would find them.
