In a heartwarming display of community spirit, residents of Shoemaker Place care home, along with their families and dedicated staff, have delivered a donation of food to support Stone Community Hub’s food bank.
The idea for the initiative began as a discussion among residents, many of whom were deeply moved by reports of food insecurity in the Stone community. The residents, eager to contribute, partnered with their families and care home staff to organise the donation system.
Together, they collected a wide range of non-perishable items, including canned goods, dried foods, and hygiene products, which were delivered directly to Stone Community Hub. Resident Brenda (pictured) said she ‘enjoyed the trip out to Stone Community Hub and loved chatting to the volunteers at the food bank.’
The donation took place earlier this month and was met with enthusiasm from both the care home residents and the team at Stone Community Hub. Residents are proud to make a positive difference, stating that the initiative gave them a sense of purpose and connection to the wider community.
