The twenty-seventh response we received to our candidate questionnaires came from the Stone Conservative Association on behalf of their candidates. They have forwarded our questionnaire on but have supplied their own statements from their website. We’ve asked a few times for the candidate questions to be returned so that we can present our readers with a common set of responses…..to date we’ve not been able to secure them so we’re publishing what we’ve received. Should we receive responses to the candidate questionnaire we will update.
All candidate responses can be found linked on our candidate page
- Candidate Name: Cathy Collier
- Party: Conservative Party
- Election: Stone Town Council
- Ward: St. Michael’s
I have lived in North Staffordshire for all my 66 years, the first 25 of them in Leek and the remainder just outside Stone. I am married and have two married, grown up sons, my husband Geoff, had a business in Stone for 40 years, which I helped him to run.
I love Stone, shop here and am a frequent user of the library and love to visit the parks and am a member of Stonefield bowlers at Stonefield Park. We are so lucky to have beautiful green space both within and surrounding the Town and we must fight to retain it.
I am Treasurer of Stone & Eccleshall Girl Guiding and run a Rainbow unit at Westbridge Park ensuring the young girls in Stone have the chance of enjoying the opportunities provided.
I have represented Stone Town Council on Stone Ace Concern, Stafford & District Access Group and the Common Plot for the past 8 years and also was a member of Stone in Bloom for many years, helping to keep the town looking beautiful.
As a recently retired employee of Stoke on Trent City Council, I am well aware of the difficult decisions which have to be made and as a Conservative, need to ensure that Stone Town Council spends your money wisely.
I am very conscious of the issues affecting the old and the young and, as Stone Town Mayor 2014/2015, I have been amazed at all the voluntary organisations, supporting them all and I will continue to help them all I can. We need to ensure there are adequate facilities to provide for them. The youngsters of today are our citizens of tomorrow and we need to encourage them.
I hope to be able to serve you on Stone Town Council for the next 4 years, and if elected will try to get your issues resolved.
