Cats Protection charity shop opens on Friday

The Stafford & District Cats Protection charity shop on the High Street opens its doors to the public for the first time at 10am on Friday 22nd May.

The shop will be officially opened by Stone vet Will Jeffels from Shires Veterinary Practice.

Staff say they understand many local people’s frustrations with the number of charity shops in the High Street, but have appealed to everyone to support them and their charitable aims.

They sent us this information…

Cats Protection

“Oh no, not another charity shop…..”

Well yes, in answer to some of the (perhaps understandable) comments from locals.

Happily, almost all of the interest in our gorgeous new shop in Stone High Street has been overwhelmingly positive. The shop is run almost entirely by volunteers and has been a hive of activity in the run-up to opening, with lots of passers-by looking in through the door hopefully. No doubt they have been attracted by our fab window displays! Sorry we have so far had to disappoint people, but the good news is that we are opening on 22nd May at 10am.

The Stafford and District Branch of Cats Protection has been working in Stone for 29 years rescuing cats and kittens. In some cases, especially where owners are in financial hardship, we can help with neutering costs and rehoming. Neutering is one of Cats Protection’s primary objectives. Cats Protection may also be able to help if you can no longer care for your cat. All money raised in the shop will be spent on cats in need in the branch’s area, which includes Stone.

Money raised in the shop over the next few weeks will help to fund a full-cost neutering scheme in Stone for those in receipt of benefits, students (18 and over) and all those who are in receipt of a state pension. The scheme will start towards the end of June and will be advertised in the shop. In the shop we have some lovely clothes, for men, women and children, all of which have been steam-cleaned and professionally displayed with clear sizing. There are designer labelled, pre-loved outfits and accessories all at recycled prices, together with new goods, toys, books, CDs and bric-a- brac. For more details you can find us on Facebook, but don’t miss out by missing the opening!
