We’ll be able to put more items into our blue wheelie bins from next month as Stafford Borough Council looks to boost recycling rates and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.
From Monday 13th September, foil, empty plastic bags, aerosols, clingfilm and Tetra Pak style cartons can be put into blue bins, as well as glass, cans, cardboard, plastic bottles and food containers. The blue bin’s inner caddy will still be used for paper and magazines.
Textiles will no longer be taken in the blue wheelie bin. Instead, the council has teamed up with European Textile Recycling to introduce a Dial-a-Bag scheme. We’ll be provided with bags to fill with items such as clothes, shoes, curtains and bedding, and can then ring a free telephone number to arrange a collection time.
We’ll be getting information and free clothes bags delivered soon but there’s more information on the council’s website here
Additionally, council officers will be in Stone’s High Street on Wednesday 22nd September from 9.30am until 4pm to explain the changes and answer questions.
