Charity match in memory of Phil James

Friends of Phil James, the man from Stone who died after being hit by a train near Stone station in September, are to hold a rugby match in his memory.

Phil, who was 19, died in hospital on 9th September following the incident near the station on 7th September. Rugby players from the teenager’s former team, Eccleshall Rugby Club, are now staging a charity game in his honour at Stone Rugby Club on Sunday 26th October.

Kick-off is at 2pm but doors will be open from 12.30pm. Proceeds from the event will be donated to a yet-to-be confirmed charity.
