Charity’s Spooktacular Halloween Program

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust has organised a program of Halloween events during the October half term, and is inviting people to get into the spooky spirit of the season.

halloween_website_imageA Halloween trail will take place from 10am – 4pm Saturday 22nd October to Monday 31st October, will take place at the Trust’s Wolseley Centre Headquarters near Rugeley, and their Westport Lake Visitor Centre in Stoke on Trent. The self-led trail gives youngsters the chance to explore the grounds and win a prize at the end, with a cost of £2 to participate.

highgateThe Trust’s Highgate Common Nature Reserve near Wombourne will host a Halloween themed Wildplay session 10am to 3pm Thursday 27th October. Youngsters aged between 8 – 14 can take part in child-led activities with a Halloween Twist. Places can be booked online.

hallloween_spooky_strollAnother spooky Wildplay takes place at the Wolsely Centre on Friday 28th October. Activities include a spider hunt, a spider craft to take home, and other child-led fun, at a cost of £10 per child. This is followed the same day by a Halloween Spooky Stroll between 6pm & 8pm. Open to families, this will give people the chance to see another side of the Wolseley Centre as night falls & nocturnal creatures stir. Halloween crafts, games and activities will also take place during the event. Places for both of these activities can also be booked online.

wildlife_watch_photo_3At Westport Lake Visitor Centre the fun continues with a Spooky Spiders Wildlife Watch on Friday 28th October from 10am-12pm & 1:30pm-3:30pm. Designed for 4-7 year olds, the session includes the chance to look for the different types of spiders and minibeasts that live at Westport Lake. Activities also include making your own spider webs and Halloween games.

A number of other events are also taking place during the week, including at the Trust’s Hem Heath Woods nature reserve in Stoke-on-Trent.
