It was celebrations all round when CAMRA published the 2011 edition of its Good Beer Guide because, for the first time ever, The Pheasant, in Oulton Road, is included in the entry for Stone.
Landlord Dave Smithwick took The Pheasant over 18 months ago and has transformed the pub. Maintaining The Pheasant’s traditions of excellent beer, good company and traditional surroundings, plus a real character of a landlord, Dave has really put the Pheasant back on the map.
Congratulations to him for all his hard work and congratulatons on getting in to The Good Beer Guide 2011!
So Stone now has four entries in the Guide (The Swan, The Poste of Stone, The Royal Exchange and the Pheasant) and, if you include The Brushmaker’s Arms in Oulton as being a Stone pub (which the Guide doesn’t) the number is actually five!
But don’t assume our other pubs are not worth visiting. They certainly are and I can recommend The Vine and Langtry’s to name but two. We are so lucky to have so many good pubs in the town. So give them all your support!
