As the Christmas holidays approach it’s important to remember that not all pharmacies will be open over the whole Christmas period, here are the details for our local pharmacies.
The NHS is reminding people of where they can access expert medical treatment during the Christmas and New Year holiday (Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 December 2019 and Wednesday 1 January 2020).
Patients can save time and help ease pressure on health services by choosing to visit their pharmacist first for quick, confidential advice on a range of common illnesses. They are also encouraged to make the most of online services by downloading the NHS App from the usual app stores, where they can order repeat prescriptions, contact NHS 111 for urgent medical advice and more.
Nigel Sturrock, Medical Director at NHS England and NHS Improvement – Midlands, said:
“Your local pharmacy can help you with more than you might think. Pharmacists offer expert, confidential advice and treatment for many minor health problems.
“We would also like to remind patients to order any medication they need from their GP surgery in plenty of time so they have a good supply during the bank holidays.
“If you need urgent medical advice, contact NHS 111 in the first instance either over the phone, online or via the NHS App. Trained call handlers are available 24/7 to help direct you to the most appropriate and effective service for your condition.”
