Church Street one way system goes live

Following proposals put forward by Cllr Jill Hood, the new one-way system has been put into operation on Church Street in Stone.

The changes have been implemented to improve road safety, on-street parking and allow local businesses to operate more effectively.

Traffic wishing to travel along the north stretch of Church Street, from the junction with Lichfield Street up to Redhill Road on the Coppice Estate, can now only travel one way. The junction by Wedding Belles and La Cocina has traditionally been a pinch point due to its narrow width, which doesn’t allow for vehicles to pass in both ways.

Traffic wanting to travelling off the Coppice Estate, via Redhill Road, will now be directed left after crossing the railway tracks, following Church Street to its exit passed The Hempbutts.

[box type=”warning” align=”” class=”” width=””]Please be aware that at the date of publishing the Redhill Road / Church Street junction is a bit of mess with residual roadworks which is causing some confusion with traffic still trying to travel the wrong way![/box]

Blue line = one way up Church Street / Red line = two way
