Churnet Valley Railways has announced for 2017, the launch of a brand new dining service, adding another option to its hugely popular “Moorlander” dining trains, all of which offer a scenic journey through Staffordshire’s hidden valley whilst sitting back to enjoy full waitress on-board the line’s dedicated dining coach “Diana”.
Making it’s first departure from Kingsley & Froghall station on Saturday 5th February, the Moorlander Brunch Train will offer a four course breakfast/lunch served direct to your table. A further four Brunch trains planned for later in the year. The Lunch and Afternoon Cream Tea services are already hugely popular, having been running for a number of years, and are seeing ever increasing bookings, with 2016 seeing services extended to cope with demand.
Each day of operation for the Brunch Trains will have two available sittings. On-the-day tickets will be available from Froghall station, pre-booking is recommended for what is expected to be a popular addition to the dining train programme (and for which a discount is available).
Another exciting dining opportunity comes with Valentines Day, when a small number of evening dining experiences will be available. If a romantic four-course dinner served aboard a candlelit dining coach sounds to you liking, then tickets are available now for the Valentines Express – which departs from Cheddleton Station at 7.30pm on Saturday 11th February. Tickets are £40 per person and pre-booking is essential for this service.
CVR’s dedicated dining train underwent a refurbishment in 2016 funded by the legacy from a long-standing volunteer Diana Clementson, and as mark of acknowledgement to her memory her name was bestowed upon the actual dining car. All of the Moorlander services are pre-bookable, with only the brunch service available for bookings on-the-day, and the set is also available for Weddings and Private Hire throughout the year.
