The post office branch is at the back of the Co-op supermarket

Work started today (Monday 21st January) on Stone’s new post office, which will be based in the High Street Co-op supermarket.

The post office – which is at the back of the supermarket – will be open to the public on Monday 11th February and will be open in line with the Co-op’s opening hours: 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

The Post Office decided in December to relocate the branch from its current base just across the road from the Co-op after holding a public consultation. The future of the building currently housing our post office branch is unclear.

The Co-op post office branch will offer a full range of services, including a passport checking facility, car tax, foreign currency, car insurance, savings schemes and the Post Office credit card, as well as all the traditional services.

  • Does anyone know what will happen to the old post office. Are there any plans?

  • Double edged sword….happy with the longer opening hours…..sad about another empty retail unit on the high street :o(
