Coffee and cakes at the ready for Macmillan Cancer

Staff at Smart Marketing Works and the Tile Association are joining forces for a big coffee morning

Businesses and community groups in Stone are playing their part to raise lots of money for Macmillan Cancer Support during this year’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Smart Marketing Works and The Tile Association – who are both based at The Mount off Stafford Street (the big white building near the Walton roundabout) – are joining forces to welcome people to their fundraising coffee morning, which starts at 11am on Friday 25th September. There will be tea, coffee and lots of cakes – in exchange for a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Direct Recruitment, which is based in the Co-op Arcade off the High Street, are also holding their coffee morning on 25th September, starting at 9.30am. Direct, which has just set up a carers’ division, is calling their event ‘Care for Cancer’ and is hoping to raise lots of money on the day.

Marks & Spencer, who are sponsoring this year’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, are hosting an event on the High Street on 25th September, from 10.30am.

ABB in Oulton Road are holding their coffee morning on 25th September too.

Gr8 Kitchenware Limited in the Co-op Arcade off the High Street will be serving up cake and refreshments from 9.30am, with all cakes made by Stone bakes. There’ll also be a voucher from the store for anyone who pops along and donates.

At Giggles & Wiggles Nursery, off Mount Road, staff are baking cakes, Sarah the nursery cook is making a selection of her favourite bakes, and Hannah and Julie will be serving bacon and sausage rolls with tea or coffee in the playground. Everybody is welcome to come and take part in this event which will start at 7.30am until the cakes and bacon rolls run out!

Stone Community Hub, in the Frank Jordan Centre in Lichfield Street, held their event a bit early, on Saturday 19th September.
