Dennis Abbot has officially become a reader in the Church of England, serving at St Michael and St Wulfad’s Church in Stone. The milestone, marked on Wednesday, 29th January 2025, reflects his deep-rooted commitment to the local community through Christian ministry, education, and leadership in scouting.
A well-known figure in Stone, Dennis has long been active in local schools, sharing his faith with young people. He has also played a key role in the local scouting movement, guiding and mentoring young members. In addition to his ministry work, Dennis is a published author, having written Gummy, a children’s storybook that has been well received in the community.
To honour his achievement, the congregation at St Michael’s held a surprise celebration on Sunday, 26th January 2025, with Bishop Matthew and Reverend Jim Cartlidge in attendance. The event was a heartfelt recognition of Dennis’s dedication and service, with warm congratulations from both church leaders and parishioners.
