Staffordshire County Council is reviewing its subsidies for bus services in Stone and a consultation to get local people’s views closes on Friday 10th January – make sure you have your say.
The county council subsidises some bus services that would not otherwise be profitable for commercial companies – keeping vital transport links going for many people, and not just in rural parts of Stone.
Thirteen bus services in Stone are currently subsidised by the county council.
The council’s website says: “On a rotational basis, supported bus services are reviewed to ensure they are providing value for money and serving the public in the most efficient way possible. The supported bus services in the Stone area are in the process of being reviewed, which may result in changes to subsidised services. Any changes will take place in April 2014.”
