Stafford Borough Council’s new Chief Executive began his new role this week.

On Monday 7th November Tim Clegg took over the authority’s top spot, replacing Ian Thompson who retired after 11 years in the job on the 4th November.
Mr Clegg left his post as Director of Strategic Partnerships, Planning and Streetpride at Derby City Council which he’s held since 2010. Over the last 25 years he has filled senior strategic roles at Wolverhampton City Council, Tamworth Borough Council, and the South Durham Health Authority. Mr Clegg is married with one grown up son.
Council Leader, Patrick Farrington, said: “Tim will be joining a team of officers committed to enhancing the lives of those who live, work, visit or do businesses in the borough. These are exciting times for our area with so much regeneration taking place now or planned for the near future – and in Tim we have the right person to work with partners in both the public and private sector throughout the region to ensure the prosperity of our borough continues for many years to come.”
Among the major projects the new Chief Executive will oversee is a new multi-million pound contract for recycling and waste collection, the outsourcing of some leisure services to a trust to protect facilities and save council tax payers hundreds of thousands of pounds, and building a new leisure centre at Westbridge Park in Stone – one of the biggest investments the Council has ever made from its own resources.
Mr Clegg said: “The Council has a very good reputation and I am excited to start my new role. The borough is growing with a strong economy and ambitious plans for the future and I look forward to working with members and officers to ensure those plans come to fruition.”
