Work is underway, so mark the date of Thursday the 21st of November in your calendar as Stone Town Council will be staging the annual switch-on of the town’s Christmas lights.
The event opens at 5pm, with Samantha Lloyd as compere for the evening. Entertainment leading up to the switch-on includes an appearance from The Grinch and Cindy Lou, music from Samantha, and, of course, the combined schools’ and CK Community Choir!!
7:00pm will be showtime with the turning on of the Stone Christmas lights. This year, the lights will be switched on by the Town Mayor, Councillor Philip Leason, and of course, Father Christmas! Joining them will be the winners of the Mayor’s Christmas Card competition.
Warwick’s Funfair will once again be set up in the Market Square and down the High Street, alongside food stalls, trade stalls, and charity stalls with all manner of festive things to buy and win.
Councillor Jill Hood, Chairman of the Council’s Tourism and Town Promotion Sub-Committee, said:
“I always look forward to this event, when the High Street is lit up with Christmas trees, and the school choirs sing to the town.
We will again be putting on a fantastic show, with a full programme of entertainment and even Santa himself putting in an appearance.
This is a hugely popular event for all age groups, and I hope you will join us on the evening to welcome the Christmas season to Stone.”
Funding from Stafford Borough Council’s High Street Boost campaign, and the UK Government, will support this year’s Christmas Lights Switch On event.
Please note, as with previous years, mobile traders selling light-up goods are likely to be on the High Street. These sellers are not endorsed or authorised by Stone Town Council; therefore, as a matter of safety, the council discourages purchasing goods from them.
