On Tuesday 26th April, Christ Church Academy played Excel Academy in the under 13’s County Cup Final. The game was held at Brocton FC and lots of family and friends came to support both sets of players.
The girls ended up playing in every weather condition imaginable including snow, thunder and bright sunshine, but the pitch was still in immaculate condition!

We passed the ball nicely on the zippy surface and carved open the opposition on a number of occasions. We looked comfortable and deserved the 4-0 lead going into half time. After the break Excel Academy came back at us with much more aggression and fight. Our goalkeeper, Rebecca Kemp, made some fine saves to keep her clean sheet intact. The game ended 6-0 but a big credit goes to Excel Academy who never gave up. Alice Matthews put in an extremely good performance and scored 3 of our 6 goals.
“The girls put in a great performance to win the County Cup. Every single player contributed to the win, and for a small school, it is a big achievement. We have had an excellent season, and I am extremely proud of the team.”[/box]
