Some voters in Stone will be casting their votes on 7th May in more unusual polling stations.
In the town, Little Stoke Cricket Club’s clubhouse will host a booth and Stone Tennis and Squash Club will be available for voters. People will also be able to cast their votes in a polling station at the George and Dragon pub in Meaford.
More than 200 polling stations will be open across Stafford borough, with 320 ballot boxes, and approximately 99,000 residents eligible to vote.
Several churches, village halls and primary schools will be transformed into polling stations, with a handful of clubs and pubs also hosting booths to ensure residents have a choice of easy-access polling stations in their local community.
Acting Returning Officer Ian Thompson, who is also the borough council’s Chief Executive, said: “We’re very grateful for the assistance of local businesses and community groups who have kindly offered the use of their premises as polling stations. Their help means voters across the borough won’t have far to travel to make their voice heard on May 7th.”
The polls will open from 7am to 10pm on Thursday 7th May. For more information on the elections visit www.staffordbc.gov.uk/elections
