People in Stone can now find out what crime or anti-social behaviour has happened in their street and in their community on a new police website.
Interactive maps show dots marking the approximate location of incidents reported to the police in England and Wales in the last month. You simply type in your address or postcode to see the crimes near you. Crimes are ordered by type, including burglary, violent crime, anti-social behaviour and ‘other crime’.
For the Stone urban police unit, 57 crimes and incidents of anti-social behavior were reported in December 2010:
- Burglary: 2
- Anti-social behaviour: 16
- Robbery: 0
- Vehicle crime: 0
- Violent crime: 10
- Other crime: 29
The crime ‘hotspot’? Ten of these crimes were on or near Crown Street.
Home Secretary Theresa May said: “We want people to be able to see what crime is happening on their street and to be able to tell their local police if they have concerns, and challenge them about how issues are being dealt with.”
The site also has details about neighbourhood policing teams, including email addresses and contact numbers for officers, as well as upcoming community meetings.
