From the 1st of June, access to Newcastle Road from Crown Street is currently closed as Western Power work to provide a new power connection and have a single lane closure in place.
According to roadworks website One.Network works are to be ongoing until mid-July, however, at this stage, we’re not sure on the extent of the roadworks as good weather and progress can often affect the schedules.
Works will affect the pedestrian footpath also so members of the public may need to cross to the open side to pass through.

For vehicular access to Newcastle Road, the official diversion is to head up to the Walton roundabout from Stafford Road, then along the A34 and enter Newcastle Road from the BP/Dans Motors roundabout.
Later in the month, there will be traffic signals added to Newcastle Road and Margaret Street to control the traffic as the works progress.
